Biography
Celebrity portrait photographer Robert Ascroft's clean, classic images have made him a favorite among art directors, photo editors, fashion designers and publicists alike. His sense of style and personality are reflected in the imagery he creates. The ability to quickly connect with subjects and create a comfortable environment has gained him access to coveted celebrities and assignments.
After establishing himself in the music industry as an award winning art director and designer, Robert began shooting many of these assignments himself. his innate sense for art direction and and design have been a recognized asset to his clientele. He has received many Addys, How Magazine and Print Magazine awards for his images.
His national and international client list includes magazines like Vanity Fair, Vogue, Harper's Bazaar, Details, and Rolling Stone. He has done work for designer Narciso Rodriguez and other clients such as JIVE Records, SONY Music, Arista Records, RCA, Paul Mitchell, Proenza Schouler, and Warner Bros among others.
Robert was raised in Rochester, New York the corporate headquarters of the Eastman Kodak Company. His father, a retired executive of Kodak, was an early influence in his pursuit of a career as a photographer.
"With success comes responsibility", says Robert. Each year he has been increasingly involved in charity events using his gifts as a photographer as a vehicle for positive change. His involvement has included such organizations as the Heart Gallery of New York, The Starlight Children's Foundation and Petra Nemcova's Happy Hearts Fund.
Robert works in New York, Los Angeles as well as on location around the globe. He currently divides his time between New York and Los Angeles.
