BIOGRAPHY:
› print biographyLaura Letinsky is a world renowned fine artist and the Professor and Chair of the Department of Visual Arts at the University of Chicago. Amy Koblenzer in Gourmet Magazine’s recently published ‘portfolio’ of Laura’s work states, “With their spare groupings, lit in what Letinsky calls ‘acid pastels’, her photos make us ask, Whatever happened here? Something disorderly and messy and intriguing, something deliciously tilted.”
Letinsky’s choice of objects is anything but personal. Indeed, the body of work, as a whole represents a formal exploration into the construction of sentiment. Her impeccable production values, however, bring this body of work within the purview of commercial photography. The photographs are formally stunning, deriving their intelligence from a sensitivity for moments.
